Richard Donner says Steven Spielberg has a story for Goonies 2
“Hopefully we’re gonna get this done”
Richard Donner has reconfirmed that a sequel to The Goonies is in the pipeline, and has revealed that Steven Spielberg has an idea in place for the new plot.
“Hopefully we’re gonna get this done,” said Donner in an interview with TMZ . “Steven [ Spielberg ] came up with the idea of doing a sequel after 30 years… you don’t do it without him.”
“And then he came up with the storyline,” continues Donner, who is also set to return to the director’s chair for the new film. “He’s right on.”
As for who might return from the original cast, it had previously been suggested that all the key players will be up for it, although Donner is phlegmatic on the issue.
“God knows,” said the director when asked who will be back on board. “It’s up to them. If they have any sense, they will, and if they don’t they won’t.”
