She's fought off bears, ancient secret organizations, demigods and more, but next week, Lara Croft can cross zombies off her "to kill" list. Well, kind of. See, the unfortunate souls at the center of Rise of the Tomb Raider's Cold Darkness Awakened DLC aren't so much "reanimated, shuffling corpses" as they are "rabid predators infected with ultra-rabies" - think less The Walking Dead and more 28 Days Later.
Cold Darkness Awakened takes place in the Siberian woods, which hide a decommissioned Cold War research base. Things that should not be opened get opened, and a virus begins to infect the investigating Trinity soldiers, turning them feral. It'll be up to Lara to stop the disease from spreading. No pressure.
Cold Darkness Awakened will be available starting March 29 as part of the Rise of the Tomb Raider season pass ($30/£20), or sold separately. The related news post from Microsoft doesn't specify what the DLC's price will be standalone, but going by the price of RotTR's previous DLC, Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, I'd expect somewhere around $10/£8.
