Robert Downey Jr. cools Iron Man 4 rumours
Says another sequel not currently on agenda
Robert Downey Jr. has cooled speculation over the possibility of a fourth Iron Man film, by revealing that there are currently no plans to make another sequel.
“There isn’t one in the pipe,” said the star in an interview with Variety . “No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man .”
And while Tony Stark will have an important role to play in the forthcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron , it does seem as though Marvel is focusing its attentions on a range of new projects.
With Guardians Of The Galaxy proving that audiences are more than happy to explore some less well-known franchises, the next wave of Marvel films may continue to lean towards the more obscure.
Ant-Man and Doctor Strange are already on the slate, while rumours of a Black Panther movie continue to linger, not to mention the inevitable follow-up to Guardians .
None of which means that Iron Man is on the proverbial scrap heap, just that a fourth solo outing doesn’t appear to be the priority right now. Fans can still look forward to their Stark fix, however, when Age Of Ultron opens in the UK on 24 April 2015.
