Robert Downey Jr. could be joining Paul Thomas Anderson project Inherent Vice
Iron Man star in for maverick director’s next film
Robert Downey Jr. could be about to add Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film Inherent Vice to his line-up.
Currently one of the busiest, most sought-after talents working in Hollywood, Downey Jr. has just finished up work on Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows , and will next shoot The Avengers .
Then there’s Iron Man 3 to think about. But having pulled out of Oz The Great And Powerful , Downey Jr. apparently has a gap in his autumn schedule that Vice could fill.
With Anderson close to getting his adap of Thomas Pynchon’s book financed, Downey would no doubt play lead detective Doc Sportello, whose ex-girlfriend pitches up and tell him about a plot to kidnap her billionaire lover.
Sportello quickly finds himself sucked into a strange world where nobody is what they seem. With its '60s setting and oddball nature, it seems like a perfect fit for Downey Jr.
