RoboCop writer will pen Gambit solo movie
Josh Zetumer will work from a treatment by Chris Claremont
Some new details have emerged concerning the forthcoming X-Men spin-off, Gambit , which has appointed a new screenwriter in the form of Josh Zetumer.
According to Deadline , Zetumer will pen the script for the Cajun mutant’s first solo outing, having made his major picture debut earlier this year with the RoboCop remake.
However, Zetumer will have some existing material to work with, as a treatment has already been written by regular Marvel Comics writer, Chris Claremont.
Plot details remain undisclosed at present, although star Channing Tatum gave Collider some idea of what to expect in an interview from earlier this year.
“We’re gonna try to change up the superhero-type movie, maybe give us something a little different,” explains Tatum. “In my opinion, Gambit is an outlier in the X-Men [ universe ], he’s not a good guy in a way.”
“He smokes, he drinks, he’s chasing women, he’s a thief. I’m not like an X-Men head but I just love him.”
