In what's probably the worst news we've reported for a long time, one of our favourite Hollywood folk, Academy Award-winning screenwriter Roger Avary, has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony driving under the influence.
Avary crashed his car in the early hours of Sunday morning, with one of his passengers, Andreas Zedini dying of his injuries in hospital.
Avary's wife, Gretchen, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being ejected from the car.
Roger is the director of two films, Killing Zoe and the 2002 adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ The Rules of Attraction. He co-wrote Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino and Beowulf with Neil Gaiman. His sole screenwriting credits include Silent Hill.
Somewhat tragically, Avary is currently working on an adaptation of the videogame Driver, though we imagine that project, alongside the several other projects on Avary's slate, will be put on hold.
