This Rogue One character might have a robotic limb (potential spoilers)
The Star Wars universe expands later this year with the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a spin-off tale set within a galaxy far, far away that revolves around a group of Rebels who plot to steal plans for the Death Star. That band of heroes remain nameless at the moment - well, to us anyway. Besides an close-up glimpse at the costumes, and talk of Vader and Han Solo cameos, specific details on those characters are thin on the ground which makes today's latest rumor all the more intriguing.
A new report from Making Star Wars lifts the veil slightly on Forest Whitaker's character, who will apparently lose a limb Skywalker-style: "It appears he has one leg and uses a cane as a crutch to walk," the site's sources reveal. "Earlier reports made it seem like he might have one leg but the clarification on the topic is a 'robot leg.'"
"He appears to be a veteran of some battles, but it isn’t clear if he lost his leg fighting in The Clone Wars or against the Empire. Based on a differentiated code name from the rest of the rebels in the movie, it appears he is likely good but maybe a bounty hunter affiliated type."
In addition, a smattering of info on his costume suggests he dons a cape, while the main body of his outfit "is a hodgepodge of different things (think of someone you might see at Maz [Kanata]’s Castle)."
Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK and US cinemas on December 16, 2016.
