Rumor: Civilization dev's next game is an Unreal powered strategy game
LinkedIn profiles and resumes dish info on new games canceled Civ project
Civilization maker Firaxis has been quiet since the release of Civilization V last year, but new info revealed through resumes and LinkedIn profiles of current and former studio employees reveals info about the studios next game, and past canceled projects.
TheLinkedIn profileof former level engineer Chris Doyle along with theresumeof ex-Firaxis game programmer Will Miller reference a multiplatform title powered by Unreal Engine 3. Miller's resume says that the title began development in 2007, and calls in a AAA strategy game for the PC, 360, and PS3. A sequel to Civilization Revolution perhaps? Short answer: Possibly but not likely.
According to the resume (since taken down) of David Jones, current character artist, at Firaxis, a sequel to Civilization Revolution was in development in 2008 for the PC, 360, and PS3 in 2008. Is the game mentioned in Miller's resume Civilization Revolution 2? Civilization Revolution was announced in 2007 and released in June of 2008. It's possible that early work began on a sequel in late 2008, but given how much of an experiment Civ Rev was, Firaxis would have had to hold an amazing amount of faith in the project over half-a-year before its release. While this mystery game may be Civ Rev 2, it's likely something else. The only other title currently known to be in development at Firaxis is the Facebook game, Civilization World.
