Rumor: Just Cause 3 next year? Let's hope so

Avalanche Studios, developer of 2006's Just Cause and its 2010 sequel, is “hard at work” on a third installment in the popular roam-'em-up series, says an undisclosed source in the latest issue of Xbox World. The title, according to XBW's mole, will be ready for a 2012 release. Of course, there have been other hints at such an eventuality, should one be inclined to look for them.

Above: Just Cause is the sort of series where this kind of thing is par for the course. Nobody would blame you for wanting to do more of it

Avalanche's most recent release was last month's Amiga-esque download title Renegade Ops, but the company told Edge earlier this year that it had four other games in development. Put this together with studio head Christofer Sundberg's statement that fans “shouldn't be surprised” to see another Just Cause, and you have... well, you have a picture of a talented outfit working hard on a lot of projects, but there's also the strong possibility that the 2012 holds water. Would you be excited to return to Just Cause?
