Rumour: David Oyelowo and Michael B. Jordan in Star Wars: Episode VII talks?
And filming to take place in New Mexico
The casting rumours surrounding Star Wars: Episode VII are starting to hot up, with two new actors linked to roles in J.J. Abrams’ forthcoming film.
Coming hot on the heels of reports that Saoirse Ronan recently read for a role in the project, Latino Review claims that both David Oyelowo and Michael B. Jordan have been in discussions with Abrams and co.
Oyelowo has been quietly impressing for some time now, in the likes of Jack Reacher , Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes , The Paperboy and the George Lucas-produced Red Tails . Jordan, meanwhile, caught attention in Chronicle , heads up the awards-baiting Fruitvale Station , and has been linked to the role of Johnny Storm in The Fantastic Four reboot . He also had a role in Red Tails .
Latino Review also claims that Benedict Cumberbatch is set to join the cast, despite the actor himself having publicly scotched rumours linking him to a part in the film.
Meanwhile, the project is thought to have confirmed a filming location, with cameras set to roll in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Known as “The City Of Crosses”, the area’s sweeping landscapes look like they’d make a decent Tatooine, or possibly the Sith homeworld of Korriban.
Directed by Abrams, Star Wars: Episode VII will open in the UK in 2015.
