Rumor: Disney eyeing Chris Pratt for Indiana Jones reboot
Move over Harrison, there’s a new whip-cracker in town, and he goes by the name of Star-Lord. If that sentence didn’t make it abundantly clear: a report from Deadline has revealed that Disney has its sights set on Chris Pratt to headline a new Indiana Jones franchise.
The last year has seen Pratt transform from his kooky Parks And Recreation persona into a blockbuster leading man. For Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy he headed up a crew of intergalactic misfits, and this summer he’ll be taming the wild raptors in Colin Trevorrow’s dino-epic, Jurassic World.
He’s long been considered a fan favourite to shepherd the Indiana Jones character into a new era. This move would see him replace series' stalwart, Harrison Ford, who played the grumbling adventurer in the four previous instalments.
Deadline asserts that no deal has been struck yet and development is in the early stages. A large component of the talks between the studio and Pratt will no doubt involve his hectic schedule.
Later this year he’s set to star alongside Denzel Washington in Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven remake. Then there’s the Guardians sequel, a LEGO movie follow-up and Cowboy Ninja Viking.
Fingers crossed he’ll find time to don the Fedora.
