Will Forte follows his semi-serious turn in Nebraska with a straight performance in this affecting family drama, which casts him as an American researcher who travels to rural Ireland to chronicle a recuperating stroke victim’s family reunion.

His role as unwanted houseguest exacerbates tensions between Vanetia (Maxine Peake) and husband Conor (Edward MacLiam), who is a stranger to his loved ones.

Steph Green’s thoughtful debut feature builds on the success of her Oscar-nommed 2007 short New Boy , largely by retaining its eloquent empathy for the outsider.
