Rupert Sanders to direct Van Helsing?
Said to be in line for Tom Cruise remake
Tom Cruise's starring vehicle Van Helsing looks to have got itself up and running once again, with Rupert Sanders reportedly in line to take on directorial duties.
Universal has long been keen on reviving the story of the veteran vampire-hunter, although all had gone quiet on the project since it was announced that Tom Cruise would be starring some months ago.
Now it seems that the studio has identified its first choice to fill the director's chair, with Rupert Sanders apparently the man for the job.
If he were to accept the task it would likely mean him stepping down from the sequel to Snow White And the Huntsman , a move that would allow him to continue his working relationship with Universal while avoiding the tabloid attention the sequel would no doubt garner with his name attached.
Cruise's busy schedule means that a director needs to be appointed sooner rather than later, and with Sanders a known quantity to studio heads, he may be seen as a safe pair of hands. Expect an official confirmation either way in the coming weeks...
