Sackboy enlists in 3D Dot Game Heroes, brings user-created friends
New update to bestow new characters and tweaks to the Kingdom of Dotnia
Sony's Sackboy is getting the 3D Dot Game Heroes treatment. In an effort to squeeze a little more mileage out of its innovate homage to retro gaming, developer Atlus is introducing LittleBigPlanet's mashable mascot in as a playable character in 3D Dot Game Heroes, along with 50 other user created characters plucked from Atlus' Hall of Heroes sharing site.
“We can think of no more fitting a character to feature than one that has become synonymous with creativity and imagination in gaming: Sackboy,” said Aram Jabbari, Manager of Public Relations and Sales at Atlus. “Now, people who start up their copy of 3D Dot Game Heroes can begin their adventures through the grand Kingdom of Dotnia with one of gaming’s most recognizable icons.”
Sackboy's inclusion is part of an overall update to 3D Dot Game Heroes that will also include tweaks to the Dash Circuit mini-games, New Game+ inventory options and a fix for the loading screen art bug.
Considering 3D Dot Game Heroes' robust (if not downright intimidating) character creation system, it's possible that some gamers already have a Sackboy hacking and slashing across Dotnia. For the rest of us who gave up after one half-assed attempt at making Bender from Futurama, this is a cool gesture on Atlus' part and a decent reason to fire up that New Game +.
