Sam Claflin onboard Pirates 4
Newcomer lands breakthrough role
Disney has announced that Brit actor Sam Claflin is set to join the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides .
The 23 year-old LAMDA graduate will play the role of Philip, a 'youthful missionary' who gets mixed up with Depp’s Jack Sparrow on his quest for the Fountain of Youth.
A relatively unknown actor, Claflin’s previous acting roles consist of historical series The Pillars of the Earth, and he is currently in production filming ScyFy Channel movie The Lost Future .
Sam joins French actress Astrid Berges-Frisby as the most recent casting announcments, alongside Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane and a host of familiar faces confirmed for the fourth installment of the swashbuckling franchise.
The cast is certainly looking ship shape and ready to sail for director Rob Marshall this summer, when filming begins in Hawaii, Los Angeles and the UK.
Is Sam Clafin the next Orlando Bloom? Or someone good..?
