A new version of Halloween will reportedly be penned by Saw screenwriters Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, in what they’re describing as a “recalibration”, rather than a reboot, of the classic horror.
That description comes courtesy of THR, and while it’s not clear what the term exactly means, it does sound as though the duo are keen to steer the franchise away from Rob Zombie’s recent entries into the series.
A new Halloween film has been in the works for some time now, with both Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer attached to the director’s chair before respectively dropping out of the running.
No director is currently attached to this iteration of the project, although Dunstan’s work on The Collector (another film co-written with Melton) could make him a potential contender.
There are no confirmed plot details for the new Halloween movie as yet, suffice to say it will likely involve a masked man dispatching various sex-crazed teens with a big old knife. A release date has yet to be announced.
