That Xbox One dragon game Scalebound gets delayed to 2017

If you're looking forward to tag-teaming bad guys with a dragon in Scalebound, you'll have to hold out a bit longer than we thought. Developer Platinum Games revealed on Monday that its Xbox One exclusive action RPG is now planned for 2017, bumping it out of its previously stated holiday 2016 release window.

Platinum Games wrote on its official blog that Scalebound is one of the biggest projects it has ever tackled, and that it's "the game our team has always dreamed of making." Granted, that dream has changed a bit in the last decade. The concept for Scalebound began back in 2006 as a Wii game that let you play as a young girl who could order around a bunch of dinosaurs. Now it's an action RPG starring Drew, a headphone-wearing dude with a magic arm, who fights alongside his dragon pal Thuban. It even has online multiplayer.

"In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017," Platinum Games wrote. "This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned."

We'll let you know when Platinum Games and Microsoft nail down a more specific release date for Scalebound.
