Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

It’s that time of the week again. The bargains hang heavy on the trees and we here at SFX have been beavering away to bringing you another selection to tempt you away from your hard earned cash.
First up we’ll remind you of a couple of offers still running: Zavvi still have its games offer on; 2 Games for £25 , with a range of titles over various platforms including Lego Batman, Thor: God of Thunder and Dragon Age 2 amongst others.
Zavvi also has a 2 Blu-rays for £12 offer, with titles such as Your Highness, “REC” and The Mist available.
The Disney DVD and Blu-ray offers are still going strong; Asda has the DVDs at 2 for £15 and Blu-rays at 2 for £20 in store, with films such as Wall-E, UP and Toy Story , as well as many other classic Disney titles available. Disney is running the same offer in-store but its prices are £12.99 for 2 DVDs and £16.99 for 2 Blu-rays. Amazon is also still running its slightly cheaper Disney offers as well; click here for the 2 Blu-rays for the £16 page and here for the 2 DVDs for £13.99 page. Although if it’s Toy Story you’re after, Amazon has all three films in this boxed set on DVD for £13.47 .
This week we have the first three William Hartnell Doctor Who adventures in this “The Beginning” boxed set; it’s on DVD for a bargaintastic £8.49 .
Next we have two of the best Star Trek films on Blu-ray. Star Trek: First Contact can be yours for £8.49 and Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan is available for the same £8.49 price tag.
While we’re on Star Trek how about the greatest Trek parody ever made with Galaxy Quest : Alan Rickman, Sigourney Weaver and Tim Allen all ham it up in great style on Blu-ray for £7.69 .

From Amazon we also spotted this District 9/2012/Battle: Los Angeles triple-pack on Blu-ray for £14.49 .
Check out plastic-faced robot Bruce Willis in Surrogates on Blu-ray for £8.75 . Also available on DVD for £4.85 .
In the supermarkets Asda had some new releases at cheap prices. Both Tintin and Hugo are £10 while The Thing prequel is £9 – all on DVD. Also available are Breaking Dawn Part One , Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and Contagion all on sale for £10 . We saw Super 8 , parts one and two of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows , Thor, Captain America, Transformers 3, and Cowboys and Aliens for £7 each. On the bargain shelf we spotted Drive Angry, Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant and a Collectors Edition of The Dark Crystal for £5 each.
The Blu-ray shelves looked the same as the last few weeks; we saw Paul for £8 , Twelve Monkeys for £7 , The Adjustment Bureau, The Lost Boys and the individual Back to the Future movies are all still there for £10 each. The Thing prequel Blu-ray was £14.97 . Asda also had the Lego Star Wars Padawan Menace for £5 on DVD and £7 on Blu-ray. The Blu-ray gets a bonus minifigure of Ian.
Morrison’s had The Terminator , Tim Burton’s Planet Of The Apes remake, The Iron Giant , Stardust , The Goonies , Sunshine and Daredevil all at the bargaintastic price of just £3 each. Other bargains we saw on the DVD shelves included The Day After Tomorrow, Babylon AD, Terminator: Salvation, District 9 and I Am Legend all for £3 each.
Tesco has Hugo on 3D Blu-ray for just £15 . Zavvi has the same for £14.95 .
Lots of great finds from our forum folk this week; Midnighter told us that The Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is available on DVD for £6 in HMV and Beaker spotted a Scott Pilgrim 2-disc set for the princely sum of £2 in Morrison’s. Wee Little Puppet Man brought news that Amazon and Play are both selling the Being Human series 1-3 boxed set for £15.99 . You can pre order the series 1-4 boxed set from Amazon for £22.49 if you’re willing to wait a few weeks. The set is out on 23 April.
Bargains regular Radical Edward had a load of multi film sets for us this week. He found this Percy Jackson/Eragon combo for £4.99 , this Wanted/Kick-Ass/Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World/Hellboy 2 box-set for £11.95 and this Marvel Collection set, including X-Men films 1-3, Elektra, Daredevil and The Fantastic 4 , all on DVD for £8.97 . Radical also found this Spider-Man/Ghost Rider/Hulk set for £3.99 , this Solaris/Minority Report/Planet Of The Apes boxed set for £5.41 on DVD and this Aliens/Resident Evil/The Fly collection for £4.99 . Finally Radical told us about the Batman Anthology boxed set which is available on DVD for the measly price of £7 .
Boo found a box set of the first two seasons of The Mentalist for £19.99 from Amazon but we spotted seasons 1, 2 and 3 of the show in a set together for £24.99 which works out cheaper.
Finally for you this week we have our random suggestions and Radical Edward is back; he found some great sci-fi themed Mimobots. Green Lantern characters at £14.29 for 2gb and £16.24 for the larger 4gb version. There were also Star Wars -themed ones for £17.59 and Batman for £12.99 , but these were only available in the 2gb memory size.
Radical also spotted this Star Wars lightsaber torch for £9.99 and this Stormtrooper novelty mug for £6.99 .

Kevinj was on hand to tell us Doctor Who microfigures are down to just 58p and Marvel microfigures are only £1 each in Morrison’s.
If you can’t wait until next week for Transformers at sea, sorry, Battleship , then why not grab yourself the classic game and recreate the action in your own home for £12.38 or grab the travel set for £7.99 .
Lego has a range of sets out to tie into the new Avengers film; with prices ranging from £11.99 to £69.99 they aren’t exactly cheap, but they are so cool we just had to share them with you. We love little Lego Iron Man and little Lego Thor. Click here to check them out. You could always just grab yourself a key ring; they’re only £2.99 each.
