Cheap, cheap, cheap. No, the SFX website hasn’t been invaded by sparrows. It’s Steven Ellis back with more pound-stretching advice
Hello and welcome to this week’s SFX Bargains Of The Week jamboree. Once again we’ve trawled the internet looking for stuff you might fancy, for prices you might think are pretty reasonable… Read on for films, TV shows, T-shirts, inflatable Daleks and other sci-fi goodies with low, low prices tags.
Our first stop this week is Amazon’s “Deals Of The Week” where we found a selection of TV show boxed sets. On offer we found The complete X-Files on DVD for £56.97 . The box includes seasons one to nine and the 1998 Fight The Future movie. That’s quite a chunk of truth for your money there.
Amazon also has all three seasons of Mutant X in a nice swanky DVD box. This 15-disc limited edition embossed tin boxed set can be for £29.97 .
A selection of Doctor Who sets next, including some from both Tom Baker and John Pertwee’s eras. First we have Mr Baker in “ The Face of Evil ”, available on DVD for £10.97 . Next up is “ Planet of the Spiders ” featuring Mr Pertwee and that’s on DVD for £7.79 .
We also have two themed box-sets to tempt you with this week. First it’s all about the Daleks in the Dalek War set. The set has the stories “Frontier In Space” and “Planet Of The Daleks” boxed together for £12.97 . With the second box-set we move on to those genetically-engineered potatoes, the Sontarans. Their boxed set features four stories: “The Invasion Of Time ”, ‘The Sontaran Experiment”, “The Time Warrior” and “The Two Doctors”. Bred For War can be your on DVD for £13.69 .
Fancy a bit of classic sci-fi? The complete collection of Land Of The Giants is available on DVD . That’s all 51 episodes of Irwin Allen's 1960s show for £24.97 .

Play has a Superman box-set featuring all the movies from 1978 right through to the 2006 reboot. Pick it up on Blu-ray for £28.69 .
Asda this week had loads of cheap Blu-rays on the shelves. We saw Species, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Predator, Legend, Night Watch, Day Watch and X-Men 1 and 2 all for £7 each. Also on Blu-ray we saw The RoboCop trilogy for £9 , Spider-Man 3 for £5 , Green Hornet for £10 and Troll Hunter for £9 .
Asda also has a load of DVD box-sets going cheap. The Terminator Quadrilogy, the RoboCop trilogy, the Mad Max trilogy, the Back To The Future trilogy and many, many more all for £10 each. We also saw Daniel Radcliffe’s first post Potter foray The Woman In Black on DVD for £10 .
From the forum this week we have Midnighter , who told us he spotted The Adventures Of Tintin in Tesco for £6.98 on DVD and Wyngarde , who reminded us of the Star Trek: The Next Generation taster Blu-ray is still available from Amazon for just £5.69 . God knows how expensive it’ll be when the rest of the series finally arrives.
As usual we have some random suggestions for you this week. Starting with Firebox, who have a couple of Haynes T-shirts. We spotted this lovely Star Trek USS Enterprise technical diagram T-shirt for £13.99 and we also found the Doctor ’s great foe in T-shirt form too: this Dalek shirt can be yours for just £9.79 .
Staying with Doctor Who ’s biggest enemy, this Ride-Along Dalek (above left) has been around for awhile and is usually priced around £100 , but we spotted it this week here for just £69.99 . This fully remote controlled inflatable Dalek is supposed to be for kids but we reckon some people out there will fit if they try hard enough.
If you prefer your Daleks a little more static then how about this inflatable Dalek (above middle) which can be yours for £38.23 . And while we’re talking about inflatable Doctor Who toys check out this TARDIS tent on sale for £33.20 . Again it’s supposed to just be for the kids, but imagine how jealous your neighbours would be if they saw your garden full of cool Who inflatables…
Finally for this week we have this very cute Superman drinking mug . Have the man of steel protect your coffee for just £4.99 .
If you find anything we’ve brought you this week cheaper somewhere else please mention it in the comments section below. We want as many bargains ideas for our readers as we can get. And remember; if anyone out there spots a sci-fi bargain they want to share then please nip over to the forum and mention it in the relevant thread. This thread is for bargain films and this one is for TV bargains and finally this thread is for any random bargain you might find. Keep your eyes peeled for great offers for your fellow geek and maybe your find will be in the bargain list next time.
