Sci-Fi Bargains Of The Week

Hello and welcome to this week’s SFX Friday bargains round-up. After the crazy shenanigans of last week we’re back to hunting down actual bargains for you, so read on for low-priced film and TV, and other sci-fi goodies, that won’t hurt your pockets…
First this week head over to the ever-cheap Amazon site. In its “Deals of the Week” we found a plethora of great deals, starting with the funniest adventure Star Trek never had. The fantastic Galaxy Quest is available on Blu-ray for just £5.97 .
Staying with Amazon, and with films, we found Event Horizon on Blu-ray for £5.97 and Escape From LA , again on Blu-ray and with the same £5.97 price tag.
We also spotted a The Thing double-set including John Carpenter’s classic original and the 2011 prequel film on DVD for just £3.97 .
Over at the HMV website they have a 5 Blu-rays for £30 deal running. We found titles such as Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers and Brazil among many, many others. Check it out.
Moving over to TV and back to Amazon, we found Doctor Who the complete specials box-set containing “The Next Doctor”, “Planet Of The Dead”, “Waters Of Mars” and both parts of “The End Of Time” on DVD for £11.97 . The set is also available on Blu-ray for £14.97 .
Other low-priced TV shows we spotted were a Misfits series one and two boxed set on DVD for £8.47 and Being Human series one to three on Blu-ray for £16.96 .

Next we have a few films adapted from video games. Timothy Olyphant stars in Hitman on Blu-ray for £6.97 and Mark Wahlberg stars in Max Payne again on Blu-ray for the slightly cheaper £6.47 .
Over at Play we found the Complete Mutant X collectors set on DVD for £29.99 and the original Star Trek TV series complete boxed set DVD for £29.99 .
Zavvi has the Farscape definitive collection box set on DVD for the bargaintastic price of £34.95 . You can the same set on Blu-ray for just £10 more but the Blu-ray doesn’t contain the “Peacekeeper Wars” miniseries for some bizarre reason.
A quick wander round Asda this week and we found I Am Legend, Skyline, The Road, RED, Griff, 300 and Contagion all on DVD and all for £5 each. We spotted a boxed set containing both the recent Johnny Depp starring Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the original Gene Wilder starring version together for just £3 . For £7 each they had Iron Sky, Chronicle, Darkest Hour , a The Mummy Trilogy set and a Scorpion King Trilogy set. On the Blu-ray front we spotted Hugo for £9 , Immortals for £8 and Sin City for £7 .
Asda also have an exclusive Hunger Games offer; You can pick up the film in a two disc set on Blu-ray for £18.97 and DVD for £14.97 and get a Mockingjay pendant. Alternatively Blu-ray for £15 and DVD for £11 . Also spotted were the third REC film on Blu-ray for £12.97 and DVD for £10 and Piranha for £10 too.
From the forum this week Wee Little Puppet Man saw Terminator 2 and Serenity going for £2 and The Iron Giant for £3 in Morrison’s. Midnighter found Solomon Kane and The Mutant Chronicles on Blu-ray for £2 each again in his local Morrison’s. Midnighter also found a selection of Marvel Animated DVDs in stock. He spotted a Marvel Animated Features box containing Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2, Next Avengers and Hulk Vs for £7 , he also spotted Invincible Iron Man, Hulk Vs, Thor: Tales of Asgard, Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2, Next Avengers, Planet Hulk and Doctor Strange all for £3 each.
DaveM told us about the complete Battlestar Galactica boxed set, which is available on Blu-ray for £47.99 .
With the second series of The Almighty Johnsons back on our screen next week Buffster brought news of the season one boxed set on DVD for just £3.97 .
Our random selection this week kicks off with a couple of Doctor Who related goodies. First we have this ”Stetsons are cool” mug from Play for £4.49 .
Firebox has a Sonic Screwdriver toothbrush for £11.99 and, proving that you can get sci-fi tat of almost everything, you can also pick up this desk top smart safe in the shape of a TARDIS for £29.99 .
Finally for this week we have a selection of T-shirts for you. Over at Play we found this Halo: Reach men's UNSC shirt for £7.99 , on Asda’s website we found this Star Wars shirt for £7 and this Avengers T-shirt for £7 .
Play has this Batman Logo hoodie down from £39.99 to just £9.99 . It’s only available in medium though.
