In this week’s Amazon’s “Bargains of the Week” there were a few tantalisingly cheap TV shows, including the original Battlestar Galactica on DVD for £6.75 and season one of Twin Peaks , also on DVD and selling for just £5.75 .
If cancelled one-season wonders are your cup of tea then the complete boxed set of the epically convoluted show The Event was on DVD for £6.50.
Jack and Gwen were kicking ass and kissing butt in Torchwood: Miracle Day , which was on DVD for £10.25 , we also found the slightly better, and far creepier, Children Of Earth on DVD for just £5.89 .
Fans of Chuck Bartowski and the Nerd Herd can pick up Chuck season one for £5.75 and season two for £7.54 . Although Zavvi has a season one to four box-set on DVD for £24.95 which probably works out cheaper if you want them all. Season five is available to pre-order for £28 and is out in October.
Also from Zavvi; fans of classic horror can pick up the Hammer House Of Horror TV box-set, containing all 13 episodes of the show on DVD for £9.95 .
On the movie front we found David Cronenberg’s adaptation of the Stephen King story The Dead Zone on DVD for £5.27 .

The Zavvi and HMV websites both have offers on this week. Zavvi is running a three DVDs for £10 offer, where we spotted Silent Running, Slither and Millennium , but there’s plenty more to choose from. And HMV currently has a five Blu-rays for £30 deal including Moon, Minority Report and Time Bandits amongst others. With over eight hundred titles in the offer, there’s bound to be something for everyone. Check it out.
Fans of Futurama can get this “Bender Head” box-set containing seasons one to four of the show and all the films in a big robot head-shaped set for £49.95 . A shiny metal butt is not included.
A quick pop to the shops revealed Morrison’s had Cabin In The Woods for £11 , Despicable Me on Blu-ray for £6 , the [REC] trilogy on DVD for £13.99 , Big Bang Theory season one to five on DVD for £40 and Cloverfield on DVD for £3 . Fans of sword and sandal fantasy can pick up Troy, 300, Prince of Persia and both the 2010 remake of Clash Of The Titans and the classic original all for £5 each.
Asda had quite a selection of cheap DVDs this week. We spotted Gremlins for £4 , Vanishing On 7th Street and X-Men: First Class for £5 each, Legend for £3 and the Fright Night remake for £5 . Fans of B movie type horror can pick up Dragon Wasps for £8 , Shark Night for £7 , Creature for £5 or Night Of The Living Dead Re-Animation again for £5 .
Asda also had both Hulk and The Incredible Hulk for £3 each on DVD and Real Steel for £5 .
From the forum this week Happy Hangman spotted both versions of The House On Haunted Hill, Ghost Ship, The Guru and Gremlins in his local Land of Pound. Wee Little Puppet Man saw Alien 3 and X-Men 3 going for a fiver each on Blu-ray in his local Morrison’s. And staying with Morrison’s, Midnighter spotted Batman Begins (single disc edition) and The Book Of Eli on DVD for just £2 each and series one of the Lego Star Wars planets sets down to £2.98 each in his local branch of the superstore. Thundergod found Batman: Under the Red Hood for £2.99 in That's Entertainment.
On the random ideas this week we have a Doctor Who heat-reveal mug . For just £9.99 you can add hot water to this mug and see the amazing picture of the TARDIS turn into a slightly different picture of the TARDIS. Welcome to the 21st century folks!
Fans of classic Star Trek might be interested in these Spock and Kirk mugs. They’re in classic science and command colours and are available from Forbidden Planet via Play for £9.99 each.
The battle between man and machine takes on a cuddly aspect with these Battlestar Galactica plush toys. You can pick up a Colonial Viper or a Cylon Raider for £14.99 each. Genocide has never looked so cute.
Midnighter told us that the DC Character Guide book is available from Amazon for £8.99 and the Marvel Avengers Character Encyclopaedia is even cheaper at just £6.99 .
