Now that the evenings are getting dark and cold, figuring out which game to cosy up with over the holidays can be tricky - but in case you couldn’t tell by the delight in Brandon’s eyes in the video above, Moonlighter is the game you should be wrapping up warm with. Doesn’t even matter if you can’t decide whether you’d have more fun slashing monsters as you devise your own battling techniques, or would rather run your own shop and toy with the purses of visiting adventurers while taking on quests from villagers, as Moonlighter lets you do both. Yes, both. You play Will, a shopkeeper who by day runs the family shop selling goods to heroes, and by night spends his time going out and prying those very goods from the hands of cold, dead monsters (and some unfortunate explorers). Those mysterious gates set up near your village lead to four different dungeon worlds, and only the most reckless thrill-seeker would dare to venture into them...psst - in Moonlighter that’s you.
In Moonlighter you’re far more than just an adventurer too. Running the family shop not only means you can pocket a pretty penny for all the stuff you find in the different monster-infested worlds: your know-how means that you’re able to craft new armor and weapons as well as enchanting your goods. Just when you think you know trading, or crafting, or enchanting inside out you’ll find a brand new way to make either wallets or monsters wince, as you think to yourself ‘just one more dungeon…’. And then you’ve got more loot to sell, more thieves to keep an eye on as they try to swipe your good from the shelves, and what did that one adventurer say? Something about wondrous treasure in the Forest dungeon? Better check it out...and before you know it it’s 4am. Consider yourself warned.
