Sega fans still pining for the days when you could count bits on your fingers and toes will be happy to hear that the company is bringing back nine old-school titles and rolling them into one. The Sega 3D Classics Collection for 3DS brings together Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Power Drift and more, plus free homescreen themes for your 3DS.
Fans are a bit split on the news. Yesterday, Sega teased fans via their Facebook page about an impending reveal. "If you're a fan of the classics, you'll definitely want to tune in tomorrow for our new game announcement," the company posted. Some took this to mean that a classic franchise would be getting a reboot or sequel. As Sonic the Hedgehog (no really, the official Sonic Facebook page) asked: "Sonic '06 Part 2?"
Sorry to disappoint you my blue buddy, but the full list is: Altered Beast, Fantasy Zone II, Fantasy Zone II W, Galaxy Force II, Maze Walker, Power Drift, Puyo Puyo 2, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Thunder Blade.
Now that Sega 3D Classics Collection has been unveiled, some are expressing their frustration via some rather colorful language. Others are still just dandy with having an anthology to play on their 3DS. I say have fun with whatever floats your boat. I may not be all that jazzed about playing Maze Walker in stereoscopic 3D, but someone out there probably is.
Sega 3D Classics Collection will be available April 26 for $30.
