Eggman and Mario are locked in Twitter battle
Over who has the better mustache
A few new challengers have appeared
Including Sonic's partner in comics
And the voice of Robotnik/Eggman
Fans have made their own suggestions
Some more serious than others
Sam is a former News Editor here at GamesRadar. His expert words have appeared on many of the web's well-known gaming sites, including Joystiq, Penny Arcade, Destructoid, and G4 Media, among others. Sam has a serious soft spot for MOBAs, MMOs, and emo music. Forever a farm boy, forever a '90s kid.
It's mustache mayhem over on the Sonic Twitter account. The comedic geniuses in charge of social media for gaming's most famous hedgehog have challenged Nintendo to determine who has the finer facial hair: Dr. Eggman (AKA: Dr. Robotnik), or Mario (AKA: Red Luigi).
Two men. Two mustaches. The #Movember battle has begun! @NintendoAmerica pic.twitter.com/WGi1WzQEVHNovember 18, 2015
The smack talk began right away, with Nintendo of America tweeting back, "Shave yourself the embarrassment, Eggman. Maybe spend time grooming that 'stache instead of capturing woodland creatures." To which the Sonic Twitter account responded, "We're so proud of you right now. If only Mario paid as much attention to his Princess' location as he did his Mustache."
OHHHHHHHHHH SNAP!! Sick burn.
As if that wasn't enough, other famous faces have decided to throw their lip blankets into the ring, making this one bristley brawl. The Assassin's Creed Twitter politely introduced the big bad of Syndicate, Crawford Starrick, while Archie Comics (which still publishes the Sonic comic series) offered up its freckle-faced hero. Even Mike Pollock, voice of Robotnik, has decided to get involved. (Sidenote: isn't that cheating?) And as you can see in the gallery above, some have even decided to throw in their own suggestions.
These sorts of shenanigans are becoming par for the course for Sonic's Twitter. Last week, the account was "taken over" by Robotnik/Eggman, giving audio answers to fans and calling out former Nickelodeon stars. If you have even the teensiest amount of fondness for the blue blur, follow Sonic on Twitter. You won't regret it.
