Seyfried goes riding in Red
Dear John star could don the crimson cape...
Almost a year ago, Thirteen and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke signed up to direct a gothic retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood fairytale.
Nothing much has happened since then, with writer David Johnson still developing the project with Hardwicke.
But now Warner Bros have their eye on somebody to fill the red cape, and that somebody is Amanda Seyfried. Not that she's officially signed anything yet.
The LA Times report that the WB are keen for Hardwicke to repeat her Twilight success by putting a werewolf spin on the Red Riding Hood story. They want her to infuse Little Red Riding Hood with the same “dark/dangerous/romantic elements” that made Twilight such a huge success.
We’re envisioning this more like a big budget version of Sigourney Weaver’s darkly gothic Snow White: A Tale Of Terror .
And Seyfried is definitely a hot ticket at the moment, with three high profile flicks out this year ( Dear John , Chloe , Letters To Juliet ). It was even her film ( John ) that finally toppled Avatar off the box office top spot after eight long weeks.
That, and she certainly looks like she stepped out of a fairytale...
