A is for Avatar
James Cameron’s epic Avatar follows the plot of John Carter very closely. Like the story of John Carter before it, Avatar tells the story of a man from Earth transported to another planet via an alternative version of himself. While there he helps to save the planet and just happens to fall in love with their native Princess. James Cameron told The New Yorker in 2009 : “With Avatar I thought, do something in the Edgar Rice Burroughs mould, like John Carter of Mars .”
