In SFX 177, Red Alert speaks exclusively to Kryten actor Robert Llewellyn about the four new episodes of Red Dwarf being filmed in January for the TV Channel Dave.
“We’re doing two episodes that are structured the same, with the same cast, and with the same sort of feel as the original series,” says Llewellyn. “The other two – one is effectively a retrospective look at the life of Red Dwarf, and the other one is the one that Doug [Naylor, co-creator] really didn’t want me to talk about because he wants it to remain a surprise.”
Red Dwarf’s production company Grant Naylor has described it as “a clipshow with a serious difference,” and Llewellyn confirms, “It’s not just us sitting around and saying, ‘Do you remember when we did that?’ That’s what we really didn’t want to do. Doug’s come up with some genius ways of doing it.”
