SFX Awards 2008

As the first copies of SFX 178 start making their way to subscribers, here's the run-down on this year's prestigious SFX reader awards! Remember, for the full story including runners-up, check out SFX 178, in store officially from Wednesday 17 December.

Starting in issue 175 we asked you to tell us what you consider the best of the genre in 2008. These are the sci-fi awards that really count, representing feedback from the people at the sharp end of the experience – you, and TV viewers, readers, gamers and cinema-goers like you throughout the SFX universe. Here are what you were happy to spend your hard-earned readies on.

I am delighted to receive this award - it means a lot to me that you have taken the time to vote and so I say again a massive thank you to everyone."

Doctor Who's "The Stolen Earth"/"Journey’s End”
Russell T Davies said: “This is such a great honour, during a year in which there's been so much excellent science fiction on TV, from so many countries. Thanks to everyone who voted, it really means a lot. Though I suspect K9's cameo was the clincher, bless that metal dog.”
