Sherlock season 4 stars Toby Jones as "one of Doyle's finest villains"
Sherlock Holmes and John Watson will confront another familiar face in their fourth season. Toby Jones, who you may remember as Hydra scientist Dr. Arnim Zola in Captain America: The First Avenger, will play "one of [Sir Arthur Conan] Doyle's finest villains" in the second episode of Sherlock's upcoming season, co-showrunner Steven Moffatt said in a statement.
Moffatt left the specific identity of Jones' character as a mystery. Andrew Scott already claimed the role of Professor Moriarty, and Lars Mikkelsen appeared as the contemptible Charles Augustus Magnussen, but that still leaves plenty of antagonists for Jones. We do know that Nick Hurran, who also directed season 3 finale "His Last Vow", will lead the episode.
Sherlock season 4 started filming last month and Moffatt teased a "climax" to the overarching story, implying that this may be its last. Benedict Cumberbatch's schedule has certainly become fuller since the series began back in 2010 (at least principal photography on Doctor Strange finished before Sherlock filming began).
Sherlock season 4 will premiere on BBC 1 in 2017.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and now I'm a staff writer here at GamesRadar.
