Simon Bird talks about the possibility of an Inbetweeners Movie sequel
Another big-screen clunge-fest on the way?
The Inbetweeners bandwagon continues to roll on, with the launch of an American series and talk of an American movie now being followed by a proposed sequel to the original feature film.
Leading man Simon Bird (Will in the show and movie) has been discussing the possibility of a big screen return with Shortlist , and it sounds as though he and his fellow 'tweeners aren't ready to leave the characters behind just yet.
"I can tell you that I don't know anything," he said when asked about a potential sequel. "None of us four have ruled ourselves out, but it's about whether Iain [ Morris ] and Damon [ Beesley ] think they can make it as good as the first one. I know they're currently trying to think of ideas, and Channel 4 and everyone else are obviously very keen for it to happen."
Should they be pressed into service once more, it sounds as though Bird and chums won't have to do much preparation to slip back into character, since the boys share a certain dynamic with their on-screen alter-egos.
"When we meet up, we immediately fall back into a relationship which is sort of based on our Inbetweeners characters," says Bird. "We're far more mature with our other friends than we are when it's just the four of us together.'' Although having seen the film, we'd suggest that isn't saying much...
