Sliders Star Jerry OConnell Is New Herman Munster In Mockingbird Lane
He joins Eddie Izzard in the radical update of the ’60s sitcom
The Bryans Trust (Fuller and Singer) continue to assemble the cast of Mockingbird Lane , their radical update of the ’60s sitcom The Munsters , and now they’ve found their Herman Munster.
Jerry O’Connell will play the bumbling Frankenstein-esque dad in the family, reports TVLine . O’Connell is probably best known to SFX readers for his starring role in the TV series Sliders , but first came to fame in Stand By Me , and more recently has has successful stints in Crossing Jordan and The Defenders (no, not some Marvel film you've missed, but a TV legal drama).
O’Connell joins a cast that includes Eddie Izzard (as Grandpa – a vampire) and Mason Cook (as Eddie – a werewolf).
Herman was played by Fred Gwyne in the ’60s show.
Mockingbird Lane is a one-hour comedy drama as opposed to a half-hour sitcom. Bryan Fuller ( Pushing Daisies ) and Bryan Singer ( X-Men ) are the motivating forces behind it.
