SOCOM gears up for launch

SOCOM, the military-themed shooter series that launched online gaming on the PS2, is once again headed for stores on Nov. 7, this timewith a two-part attack. Hitting simultaneously, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Combined Assault for the PS2 and SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 for the PSP would be a dead heat in a longest-title-ever contest. But more than that, they'll sync up Sony's console and its handheld like never before, featuring parallel storylines that can change on one platform depending on what happens in the other.

To prepare you for the carnage ahead, we've got trailers for each game, as well as some new screens, including five exclusive shots from Combined Assault's single-player campaign. To check 'em out, just hit the Movies or Images tabs above.

After graduating from college in 2000 with a BA in journalism, I worked for five years as a copy editor, page designer and videogame-review columnist at a couple of mid-sized newspapers you've never heard of. My column eventually got me a freelancing gig with GMR magazine, which folded a few months later. I was hired on full-time by GamesRadar in late 2005, and have since been paid actual money to write silly articles about lovable blobs.
