Sony taps up James Wan for Robotech
Sony has identified a potential director for its upcoming adaptation of '80s anime series Robotech, with THR reporting that James Wan is currently in negotiations with the studio.
Wan is hot property having scored such a knockout blow with Fast & Furious 7, which has taken $1.3 million worldwide and counting. Warner is keen to bring him on board to direct Aquaman, while Universal is also moving to bring him back for Fast & Furious 8.
For those unfamiliar with the original series, Robotech is set on a future Earth that has developed giant robots using alien tech recovered from a crashed spacecraft. And said robots become crucial to humanity's survival when waves of alien aggressors set their sights on an invasion...
Wan is already committed to helming The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, with that film scheduled to set cameras rolling in the autumn of this year. However, it's thought that Sony are willing to wait to get their man…
