Sony has released a new video celebrating the history of the PlayStation brand in Britain since PSone’s launch in 1995. The company says the UK-centric short film was inspired by the messages posted online by fans using the hashtag #PlayStationMemories, which trended worldwide in the build-up to February’s PS4 reveal.
The #4thePlayers campaign marks the start of what Sony says will be its biggest marketing investment in the launch of a new platform in the company's history, with PS4 set for release on November 15 in the US and November 29 in Europe. The video should evoke some nostalgia for anyone who grew up with a PlayStation console, and Sony hopes it’ll also help attract a new generation of players to the brand.
Retailer GAME is offering consumers the chance to play PS4 at a series of hands-on events across the UK in the run-up to the console’s release next month. In the US, the first wave of PS4 demo kiosks can be found in Sony store locations nationwide. Playable games on both sides of the pond include Knack, FIFA 14, Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Contrast, Super Motherload, and Pinball Arcade.
