Soul Calibur and Prince of Persia heading to silver screen
Movie madness: Yet more celluloid versions of games are in the works
Following this morning's news that a is in the works comes word that there are also plans for films based on Soul Calibur and Prince of Persia.
Soul Calibur has, improbably, been signed up by American Pie and Final Destination producer Warren Zide and will be his first project under his new Sony-owned Anthem Pictures.
We've no details yet on the film's plot or who will star in it although it's a pretty safe bet that there will be some fighting involved. Let's just hope it's better than 1994's dreadful Jean-Claude Van Damme movie Street Fighter.
Meanwhile, Jerry Bruckheimer Films are currently negotiating a "seven-figure deal" in a bid to acquire the movie rights to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, the well-regarded time-travelling actioner from Ubi Soft. The deal is said to include a script that's being written by the game's creator Jordan Mechner. We'll bring you more on both films as soon as we have it.
