Spartacus Creator Plans Space War TV Series
Steven S DeKnight is developing Incursion
Spartacus creator Steven S DeKnight, is developing a gritty new space-based SF show for Starz called Incursion , and it has an interesting (perhaps American Horror Story -influenced) structural quirk, according to the Starz press release.
It is described as an epic science fiction action-thriller that follows a squad of soldiers caught in a war against a hostile alien race.
Each season (optimistic about renewal, then?) the battle will be fought on a new, exotic planet as humanity punches deeper into enemy territory.
The Starz blurb promises realistic combat, darkly complex characters and intrigue on a cosmic scale will permeate the tale of fighting men and women facing the pressures of war and an enemy unlike any ever seen.
Gotta admit, it sound likes a natural successor to Battlestar Galactica , though maybe the drought in decent space-based shows is just getting our hopes up.
Then again, DeKnight has a good pedigree. Before Spartacus he worked on such series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel , Smallville and Dollhouse .
