Spec Ops: The Line multiplayer guide
Learn the ins and outs of the Exiles and the Damned
The Scavenger
Level 1 Class Bonus
- 10% increased explosive radius for self and teammates within 10m.
- Scavenger takes 40% less damage from explosives.
- Repair Vital Points 75% faster.
Level 2 Class Bonus
- 15% increased explosive radius for self and teammates within 20m.
- Scavenger takes 80% less damage from explosives.
- Gain extra ammo and grenades from ammo drops and carry double ammo.
The Scavenger is the Damned’s answer to the Breacher. The Scavenger (and nearby teammates) enjoy a similar increased explosive radius as does the Breacher, but that’s the extent of the similarities. Whereas the Breacher is designed to inflict greater explosive damage, the Scavenger is best-suited for withstanding explosive attacks and cleaning up after them. The Scavenger takes substantially less damage from explosives—enough to survive a single Frag Grenade or C4 explosion.
The Scavenger can also repair damaged Vital Points significantly faster than any other class, making it the ideal class to have on defense during games of Buried. The Scavenger really comes into its own after reenlisting. It retains the abilities of the Level 1 Class Bonus while gaining the ability to carry double the ammo and retrieve additional grenades and ammo from drops. Reenlisted Scavengers are excellent front-line attackers, capable of absorbing enemy Proximity Mines and clearing a path for teammates en route to the enemy base.

How you equip your Scavenger depends on whether you’re going to play defensively (to repair Vital Points, for example) or heading out to soak up enemy explosives. Pair an assault rifle and shotgun for combat at close to medium range, at least until you’ve unlocked a heavy weapon. Regardless your approach, Scavengers should equip the heaviest grade armor available, especially if heading out to trip enemy Proximity Mines. Consider the following perks: Always Prepared, Commando, IED Expertise, Adapted, and Scrambler.
The Breacher
Level 1 Class Bonus
- 10% increased explosive radius for self and teammates within 20m.
- Carry double the amount of grenades or C4.
Level 2 Class Bonus
- 15% increased explosive radius for self and teammates within 20m.
- Carry triple amount of grenades and C4.
- Damage Vital Points and HVTs more effectively with explosives.
Unique to the Exiles, the Breacher is an explosives expert that helps you get the biggest bang from your grenades and rockets. The Breacher can carry up to eight grenades or C4, each of which pack a 10% larger blast radius.
The Breacher really comes into his own in Buried matches, provided you’ve reenlisted. Not only can you carry triple the capacity of grenades and C4, but you’ll be able to inflict greater damage to Vital Points and the enemy HVT. The Breacher’s increased explosive radius also benefits nearby teammates. The actual grenade or C4 needn’t detonate within twenty meters of the Breacher. Rather, any C4 or grenade deployed by a nearby teammate will experience the increased radius, even Proximity Mines placed clear across the map!
The Breacher is similar to the Gunner in that it doesn’t require any extra teamwork and can be used in any situation or mode. The Breacher really comes into its own once you unlock access to C4!

The Breacher is particularly useful once you’ve unlocked access to C4 and the RPG-7 or, better still, the M32 MGL. Equip the Always Prepared perk to ensure you can wield both an assault rifle and heavy weapon. Other perks to consider include: Commando, Blood Thirst, IED Expertise, and Hunter. Always select the heaviest grade armor you have unlocked when outfitting the Breacher.
