Spider-Man casts Sally Field as Aunt May?
Could join comic reboot
Martin Sheen was drafted in to play Uncle Ben in the Spider-Man reboot mere hours ago, and he’s already got himself an on-screen wife! Yes, he's that smooth.
Heat Vision are reporting that Sally Field has been talking with director Marc Webb about a part in his web-slinging reboot, and who better for her to play than Aunt May?
As anybody with even the most basic Spidey knowledge will know, Aunt May is Peter Parker’s guardian, a kindly fusspot who is left widowed when her husband, Uncle Ben, is murdered during a botched robbery.
Uncle Ben’s passing, of course, triggers Parker’s transformation into Spidey – though Webb could play with this lore for his re-do, especially as we've already seen it played out on-screen in Sam Raimi's films.
So, Field as Aunt May? With Sheen, Rhys Ifans as The Lizard and hot ticket Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy, Webb’s effectively spitting in the faces of reboot naysayers without actually getting phlegmy about it. We’re liking these odds. A lot…
