Spike Jonze on Wild Things clip
The footage was an early test…
By now you’ll probably have seen the Where The Wild Things Are clip that has been dancing around the Internet stage since the weekend. You’ve probably been wondering if it was official. Now the answer can come: sort of.
While nothing in the footage will appear in the final movie, IESB.net has dug up a statement from director Spike Jonze , which lays out exactly what it was: “That was a very early test with the sole purpose of just getting some footage to Ben our visual effects supervisor to see if our visual effects plan for the faces would work. The clip doesn’t look or feel anything like the movie, the Wild Thing suit is a very early cringy prototype, and the boy is a friend of ours, Griffin. We love him, but he is not in the actual film...”
So if you were worried that the film might be dodgy and have heard the rumblings about poor test screenings fret not. Jonze has plenty of time to make it great before that 2009 release date.
