Proving that TV has become an ever-more enticing place for filmmakers, Spike Lee is the latest big-shot talent to attach his name to a show.
He’ll call action on the pilot for a new US drama called Shark, the tale of a glitzy Los Angeles attorney-to-the-stars who has an attack of conscience, quits his well-paid job and becomes a prosecutor.
Spike admits Brian Grazer, whose Imagine company produced his next film, talked him into the job. “It's the long arm of Brian Grazer," Lee told Variety . "We had a very good experience on Inside Man. "
Hollywood has tried to get Lee to direct two previous pilots, but while he got close, this will be his first produced effort. Now all he has to do is wait and see if the show gets picked up. No pressure, then, but with James Woods attached as the lawyer, it has a better chance than most.
