Spintires Guide
Oovee Game Studios’ Kickstarter funded truckin’ sim has quietly chugged its way into the top of the Steam charts, hitting 100,000 copies sold in less than a month. Not for the short of patience, Spintires plops you into the driving seat of a beat up old Soviet truck in Mother Russia and leaves you to it.
It turns out that some deranged lumberjack who’s taken one too many trees to the bonce has decided that the best place for these trucks to be hauling logs back and forth is over a terrain that makes treacle look as viscous as water by comparison.
Mud is your constant companion, even when you don’t want it to be. It’s clingy as hell and every time you run into it, what you hoped would be a brief encounter turns into a drawn-out proceeding that will have your face locked into a pained grimace as your frustration mounts by the minute.
But therein lies the fun! An honest-to-goodness off-road experience that’s as challenging as they come and with every quashed quagmire, each little victory is that much sweeter. That doesn’t mean you won’t be tearing your hair out and grinding your teeth to stumps along the way, so in an effort to keep your stress induced episodes to a minimum, we’ve cobbled together a guide full of the essential info you’ll need to help maintain your sanity.
Besides that, it’s all in the reflexes.
