Stan Lee makes his case for bigger role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2

During a recent Collider interview with director Marc Webb, Marvel legend Stan Lee barged in for an unexpected appearance in order to make his case for a larger role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 .

Lee was seen briefly in the first film as the oblivious school librarian, happily tidying his books while Spidey and the Lizard beat seven shades out of each other behind him. Next time out, however, he wants more.

“It was all right, but it wasn’t big enough,” says Lee of his first cameo. “You refer to it as a cameo. Couldn’t we think of it as a leading role? Or couldn’t we think of it as a key scene that the whole movie sort of hinges on?

“People haven’t stopped talking about it. But I think in the next one, maybe we ought to go a little deeper and probe the real me, what I have to offer… People are still talking about that cameo and saying ‘Why wasn’t that longer?’”

Who can argue with that sentiment, eh? Good old Stan Lee. Long may he continue popping up in all things Marvel. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in the UK on 18 April 2014.
