Star Wars: A trilogy of Han Solo movies could be in the works
The worst kept secret in Hollywood was finally confirmed earlier this month at Star Wars Celebration when Alden Ehrenreich was officially announced to be playing Han Solo in the upcoming spin-off. Now thanks to The New York Daily News, we may have an idea of just how many films the Hail! Caesar star has signed up for: "They’re keeping things under wraps at the moment, but the deal is that he has signed for at least three movies", the site reports.
"There is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo movie and its potential. Given that Han’s early adventures do not need to be tied to the Empire, it leaves story lines open with the opportunity to really give fans something different. They can explore new galaxies and crazy creatures and bring in a wide array of new characters. They feel that his character has the right potential to become a central figure in several movies".
While we should take that with a grain of salt, it wouldn't be surprising if the report turns out to be true. Signing up actors for multiple films in big franchises is the norm these days, and I don't see audiences getting bored with Han Solo any time soon. Just because Ehrenreich may be signed on for multiple films doesn't necessarily mean we'll get to see them though, and in that regard much will depend on the reaction to the 2018 movie. We'll see what happens in just under two years.
Directed by Phil Lord & Chris Miller and starring Alden Ehrenreich, the Han Solo standalone movie is scheduled to open on May 25, 2018.
