Star Wars: Episode VII to hold open auditions in the UK

If you've ever dreamed of appearing in a Star Wars film, then your big chance could be on the horizon with the news that open auditions for Episode VII are to be held in the UK.

The story stems from the Twitter account @UKopencall, which flagged up a "nationwide search for lead roles for a Disney movie", reported by Jedi News as being none other than Episode VII .

The two key roles are described as follows:

RACHEL - Was quite young when she lost her parents. With no other family, she was forced to make her way in a tough, dangerous town. Now 17, she has become street smart and strong. She is able to take care of herself using humor and guts to get by.

Always a survivor, never a victim, she remains hopeful that she can move away from this harsh existence to a better life. She is always thinking of what she can do to move ahead.

THOMAS - Has grown up without a fathers influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn't have the strongest sense of himself, despite this he is smart, capable and shows courage when it is needed.


He can appreciate the absurdities in life and understands you can't take life too seriously.

The first series of auditions will take place in Bristol on 9 November, before the search continues in London, Dublin and Glasgow.

Abrams has previously employed misleading casting calls on the likes of Super 8 to throw fans off the scent, so it remains to be seen just how accurate the above descriptions turn out to be.

It's also up for debate as to just how "lead" these roles will be, particularly given the number of big names who have read for the project. Still… we could be in a Star Wars movie! Hello stardom...
