Star Wars Rebels season 3 could "feed into future movies", says producer
We recently learned that Forest Whitaker will be playing a character from the Clone Wars in Star Wars: Rogue One, and it sounds like that won't be the only link between Lucasfilm's cinematic and animated properties. The third season of Star Wars Rebels will be premiering at Star Wars Celebration London in a few weeks, and producer Simon Kinberg has been hinting at some movie tie-ins:
"What’s lovely is, obviously, we’ve brought in characters from Clone Wars in the second season, and we keep sort of bringing characters from the original movies and sort of deepening the relationships between our core characters, the Ghost crew", he told Moviefone. "So it’s trying to balance the two different things, like the original cast from the first season with Clone Wars, with characters from the original movies, and maybe even feeding into future movies".
The "feeding into future movies" segment of the Kinberg quote likely refers to more of the secondary characters as opposed to big, universe-shaking reveals. Even so, adding more layers of connective tissue will be especially rewarding for those fans who do consume Star Wars in all mediums.
Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Laura Dern, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie, and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: Episode 8 opens in cinemas on December 15, 2017.
