Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has announced a deal with MGM Interactive to develop Stargate Worlds, an MMORPG based on the sci-fi TV series Stargate SG-1.
Gamers will be able to assemble a team of scientists and soldiers, then travel through the Stargate to visit any point in time and space, such as alien environments or ancient human times. Here the team must solve mysteries and tackle hostile forces such as the Goa'uld and the Ori.
Alternatively gamers will be able to fight for the evil System Lords and attempt to create disorder and chaos in the worlds they visit.
The game will be part action and part exploration as the various teams strive to set up alliances and trade with different races and civilisations that all exist in the hit TV series' universe.
While no screenshots have been released we have managed to get hold of some concept art of the type of creatures you'll be able to meet and landscapes you'll encounter.
Stargate Worlds will be released for PC but no UK release date has been confirmed
