Starhawk video preview - how to crush your enemies with your spawn pod

PS3 owners: did you miss out on Warhawk? Not even know what it is? Looking for a unique multiplayer action game? Starhawk might just be that game, as we had a lot of fun with it during our video preview, even when we were sucking. One of Starhawk's big steps forward from its predecessor is the addition of a single-player campaign, but for the beta only the multiplayer is available, and really it's the main attraction here. We tried out Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag on two different maps, and the sometimes hilarious results can be viewed here:

Some highlights we'd like to point out:

  • Walls intelligently snap together when you hover the building hologram near an existing wall section
  • Transforming from mech to Hawk and back again is super sexy
  • Jet packs feel amazing when you first launch skyward
  • The maps currently feel a bit big and empty, but we were playing with small numbers - with a max of 32 players the maps' scale will make more sense

Check back soon for our in-depth preview with a full list of all the cool stuff we saw and did in the Starhawk multiplayer beta.

My new approach to play all games on Hard mode straight off the bat has proven satisfying. Sure there is some frustration, but I've decided it's the lesser of two evils when weighed against the boredom of easiness that Normal difficulty has become in the era of casual gaming.
