Starship Troopers adds a fourth movie
CGI film picks up where Verhoeven left off
A fourth film is on the way for the sci-fi franchise Starship Troopers and it looks like it will sensibly leave parts two and three behind.
Instead, Starship Troopers: Invasion - which will be CGI rather than live-action - will continue the story of the 1997 Paul Verhoeven movie. Let's face it, that's where fans want it to go.
In even better news, Neil Patrick Harris is onboard as Carl Jenkins - the intelligence officer he played in the original film.
Actor Casper Van Dien and Starship Troopers writer Edward Neumeier are also involved as executive producers.
It's not the first time the war between the bugs and mankind has been turned into CGI. Fans will remember the Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles TV series that aired in 1999.
When can you see Starship Troopers: Invasion ? It will be hitting DVD and Blu-ray next year, unless you live in Japan where they may project it onto a large white screen in front of paying crowds.
Is that what they mean when they say 'big in Japan'?
