Steve Carell and Keira Knightley face The End Of The World
Hitching up for doomsday rom-com
It might just be the most bizarre movie coupling of all time: Steve Carell and Keira Knightley are to star in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World .
With Carell on his way out of The Office , it was only a matter of time before the deluge of offers came flooding in - and this looks like a promising start.
Set against the final days of mankind's existence, the film sees Carell's character driving across the States to spend his precious last moments with his high school sweetheart.
Knightly, on the other hand, will play Carell's neighbour and road companion. But as the wacky hand of fate would have it, the unlikely pair end up falling for each other instead.
We have to admit we're a teeny bit intrigued - this marks the directorial debut of Lorraine Scafaria, whose script for Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist garnered a fair bit of praise.
And with production kicking off June, those of you abiding by the Mayan calender can at least be assured that we'll be seeing this before too long.
