Steve Coogan joins Marmaduke

The likes of Steve Coogan, Jeremy Piven, Steve Coogan and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all adding their voices to Fox's latest blend of live action and CG with cartoon strip adaptation Marmaduke.

They've really snuck this one in under the wire, probably figuring that few people beyond the hardcore fans of the slobbering Great Dane would be interested in the film - but still hoping it'll attract the sort of success that somehow stuck to Alvin And The Chipmunks.

Based on the heavily-syndicated (i.e. in thousands of newspapers around the world) strip, the movie will find Debbie and Phil Winslow (Judy Greer and Lee Pace) dealing with their CG mutt and his animated animal friends.

Already on board to give voice to the critters are Amanda Seyfried, Steve Coogan, George Lopez, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Fergie (the Black Eyed Peas' lead singer, not the former princess), Ron Perlman and Damon Wayans Jr.

The live action portion has already been filmed this summer in Vancouver (can't think why the paparazzi didn't rush to blanket it with coverage) and it's aimed for a summer release next year across the pond.

We know you're dying to see it, but you'll just have to wait. Maybe you could whet your appetite with the Chipmunks "squeakuel" this Christmas. Stop throwing things!

Marmaduke, eh? Interested? Fascinated? Horrified? Yap out a comment, will ya?
